While the concept of free collaborative academic writing is great, Fidus Writer proved too buggy for actual use. Real-time collaboration would frequently break, showing different content to different users, and document exports often corrupted formatting. The interface feels clunky compared to more polished alternatives, making what should be simple edits a chore.
