What is Forecastfox?

Forecastfox is a free open-source weather extension for the Firefox web browser. It is designed to provide quick at-a-glance weather information right within the browser window.

Once installed, Forecastfox displays a small icon in the Firefox toolbar showing current weather conditions and temperatures for a location set by the user. The icon changes dynamically to reflect updated weather information.

Hovering over the icon pops up a tooltip with further weather details including a short-term forecast with predicted high and low temperatures, wind speeds, chance of precipitation, humidity levels, and sky conditions. Clicking the icon opens a sidebar with an expanded 5-day forecast.

Locations can easily be managed from Forecastfox's options panel, allowing users to quickly switch between different pre-set cities or zip codes. A variety of unit options are available for temperatures (Celsius, Fahrenheit, etc.) and distance (miles, kilometers, etc.). Additional customizable settings control data refresh frequency, toolbar icon styling, and so on.
