Co-op sandbox survival game with build forts, craft weapons & buildings, loot drops, squad bonuses, and upgrade skills
Fortnite: Save The World is a co-op sandbox survival game developed and published by Epic Games. It was released in 2017 as a paid early access title for Microsoft Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
In the game, players team up in groups of up to four to complete missions and defend objects from waves of hostile zombie-like creatures called Husks. Missions can take place in a variety of environments and have different main objectives like defending a bomb launcher, protecting servers, or rescuing survivors.
A key aspect of Fortnite: Save The World is building fortifications to protect mission objectives. Players can craft weapons, traps, walls, floors, stairs and roofs using resources collected in missions. There is also a robust skill tree and upgrade system that allows players to customize their strengths and abilities.
As players complete missions, they earn new weapons, hero characters, defenders, survivors, traps and more, all of which can be leveled up through use and evolution over time. There is continuously new content being added in the form of new events, quests, enemies and locations.
While initially released as a paid early access game, Fortnite: Save The World has since become part of the free-to-play Fortnite game suite. Players can still purchase optional in-game packs to unlock daily loot rewards, resource packs, and access other in-game bonuses.
