What is Friend Wars?

Friend Wars is a social networking game developed and published by Klei Entertainment in 2012. It was initially released for iOS devices, with an Android version coming later that year.

In Friend Wars, players create a customized avatar character and use them to build up a network of in-game friends. Gameplay revolves around collecting new friends, customizing your character with clothing/accessories, designing your own virtual living spaces, and competing in friend battles.

Friend battles are the main competitive gameplay element. Players are matched up against another player's avatar and virtual space. Both players can interact with the space and invite their other friends to cheer them on. After a set timer, the player with the most friend votes wins.

Winning battles and completing certain challenges will level up your character profile and unlock new customization options. The goal is to become the most popular player in the game through making tons of friends and winning battles against others.

Additional gameplay modes include mini-games and puzzles that can be played solo or cooperatively with friends. There are also collection aspects where players try to gather full costume and furniture sets.

Friend Wars monetizes through players purchasing premium currency called "Warp Coins" that can be exchanged for exclusive customization items and consumable battle boosts. It pioneered social gameplay fused with light monetization.
