Frozen Bubble is an open source clone of the popular Puzzle Bobble game. Players shoot colored bubbles into a playfield of other bubbles, grouping colors of 3 or more to make them pop. It features 100 single player levels, a level editor, multiplayer over LAN/Internet, integrated server browser, and more.
What is Frozen Bubble?
Frozen Bubble is an open source clone of the popular Puzzle Bobble (Bust-A-Move) game by Taito. In Frozen Bubble, players control a small cannon at the bottom of the screen that shoots colored bubbles into the playfield above. The objective is to shoot and group bubbles of the same color into sets of three or more, causing them to pop. If bubbles pile up too high without popping groups, the player loses the level.
Frozen Bubble features bright and colorful graphics, a soothing soundtrack, and intuitive mouse/keyboard controls. The single player mode includes over 100 increasingly difficult levels across 10 themed worlds. There is also a level editor to create and share custom levels, as well as local hotseat multiplayer and LAN/Internet multiplayer with integrated server browser and rankings.
Frozen Bubble runs natively on Linux, Windows, and Mac platforms. As open source software licensed under the GPL, the C++ source code is freely available for anyone to view, modify, and redistribute. Frozen Bubble offers addictive, matching puzzle gameplay combined with a variety of game modes and options in a user-friendly package.
