A colorful video game series where you guide Bubbles through mushroom-themed worlds, jumping on enemies and solving puzzles.
Mushroom Bubble is a series of 2D side-scrolling platformer video games developed by Fungi Games. The series stars Bubbles, an energetic mushroom character on a quest to save his homeland of Shroomington from the evil fungi warlock Moldywart.
In the first game, released in 2005, Bubbles must traverse five worlds filled with ledges to jump across, enemies to hop on and squash, and puzzles to solve using his bubble spray ability that can solidify certain objects or stick items together temporarily. Each world has a distinct theme like sandy dunes, icy glaciers, lush jungles and fiery volcanoes. The goal in every level is to reach the flagpole at the end while collecting as many coins and powerups as possible.
The series continued in 2007 with Mushroom Bubble 2, which introduced more abilities for Bubbles like a drill helmet to tunnel underground and a bubble copter for slow vertical descents. The game also featured local 2-player co-op allowing a second player to control Bubbles' brother Boomer in asymmetric levels requiring cooperation to progress. Over the years, the series expanded to mobile devices and consoles with entries like Mushroom Bubble DX adding components like vehicle segments and customization.
