What is Furcadia?

Furcadia is a free-to-play multiplayer online roleplaying game originally developed by Dragon's Eye Productions. First released in 1996, Furcadia allows players to create their own anthropomorphic animal character, called an avatar, and explore user-created worlds called dreams. It was one of the first graphical MUD-like games to hit the internet.

When creating a character, players can choose from several races, colors, markings, and adjust attributes like strength and intelligence. They can decorate their avatar with user-created art and clothing as well. Players start in the New Citizen Dream and can explore different areas, chat with other avatars, participate in activities, and contribute to the community.

Much of Furcadia's content is created by its player base using the included worldbuilding tools and scripting language called DragonSpeak. Creativity and community are the main highlights of Furcadia. While there are some combat areas, the focus is much more on freeform roleplaying and social interaction.

Over its 25+ year history, Furcadia has grown into a thriving community attracting users from all over the world. It continues to be updated by Dragon's Eye Productions and relies on player donations and contributions to remain active.
