What is Google Allo?
Google Allo is a messaging and chat app developed by Google, launched in September 2016. Some of the key features of Allo include:
- Integration with Google Assistant - You can have conversations with the Google Assistant bot in Allo to get information, recommendations, or complete tasks.
- Smart Reply - Allo suggests quick responses in chats based on the context using machine learning.
- Sticker Suggestions - The app suggests stickers and emojis relevant to the conversation using AI.
- Incognito Mode - End-to-end encryption for messages in Incognito chats to improve privacy.
- Desktop Support - Allo also has a web client that allows you to use it on desktops and laptops.
However, despite its innovative features, Allo failed to gain significant user traction against established apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. Google discontinued Allo in March 2019 and focused its consumer messaging efforts on RCS Chat and Android Messages.
