Google Blog Search
Google Blog Search: Blog Post Search Engine
A service from Google that indexes blog content for easy searching, allowing users to search through blog posts across the web and providing tools for bloggers to improve their content visibility.
What is Google Blog Search?
Google Blog Search was a service offered by Google from 2005 to 2011 that indexed the content of blogs across the internet. It worked similarly to the main Google search engine, but was focused solely on blog content.
Some key features of Google Blog Search included:
- Ability to search through over 1.4 billion blog posts and over 70 million blogs
- Options to filter blog search results by date, author, language, etc.
- Integration with other Google products like Google Maps, Google Translate, etc.
- Tools for bloggers to improve visibility and search engine optimization of their blog content
- An RSS feed for each blog that allowed users to subscribe and follow blog updates
In 2011, Google discontinued the Google Blog Search service to shift focus onto improving blog content discovery through its main web search offering. Some of the core capabilities lived on through the main Google search engine, but a dedicated blog search portal was no longer offered.
