Apr 10, 2026Kong Makes API Management a Breeze
Kong has been a game-changer for our microservices architecture. Setting up routing, authentication, and rate-limiting was straightforward, and the performance has been rock-solid. The plugin ecosystem is fantastic, and being open-source gives us great flexibility without breaking the bank.

Apr 09, 2026A Powerful and Flexible Open-Source API Gateway
We've been using Kong as the API gateway for our microservices architecture, and it's been excellent. The declarative configuration and the extensive plugin ecosystem have made it easy to implement authentication, rate limiting, and request transformation. The learning curve for initial setup was moderate, but the detailed documentation and active community were invaluable. Overall, it has significantly improved our API management and performance monitoring.

Apr 08, 2026A Scalable and Robust API Gateway
As a developer managing multiple microservices, Kong has been a game-changer for our team. The out-of-the-box plugins for authentication, rate limiting, and logging have saved us countless development hours, and the performance under load has been rock-solid. The active open-source community and comprehensive documentation made the initial setup and scaling surprisingly straightforward. While the initial configuration has a learning curve, the long-term stability and feature set are well worth the investment.

Mar 29, 2026Far too complex and expensive for what it does
Setting up and managing Kong in production has been a constant struggle. The initial setup is deceptively simple, but fine-tuning and managing it at scale is a nightmare. The enterprise features are locked behind an expensive paywall, making the free, open-source version feel like a crippled trial. For a tool that's supposed to simplify API management, the administrative and cognitive overhead is far too high. We’re actively seeking alternatives.

Mar 27, 2026Bewildering for basic API management
We adopted Kong hoping to streamline our microservices, but the complexity was overwhelming. The documentation felt scattered, and even simple configuration changes became time-consuming puzzles. For a team our size, it felt like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, slowing development more than helping.

Mar 27, 2026Powerful but Steep Learning Curve
Kong is a robust API gateway that handles our microservices traffic reliably, and its plugin ecosystem is impressive for extending functionality. However, the initial setup and configuration were quite complex, and the documentation, while extensive, can be overwhelming for newcomers. It's a great tool for seasoned DevOps teams, but the barrier to entry is significant.

Mar 25, 2026The Kong API Gateway has streamlined our API management process.
Implementing Kong has dramatically improved our ability to manage and secure our API ecosystem. The traffic routing and load balancing features have reduced our latency, and the comprehensive plugin system allowed us to easily add authentication and rate-limiting. While the initial setup required some Kubernetes knowledge, the Kong Ingress Controller has been flawless in production. The Kong Manager UI and Admin API are our go-to for day-to-day operations.

Mar 19, 2026Promising but Frustratingly Complex
Kong has powerful features, but the setup and documentation left me with a poor experience. The initial configuration was far more complex than anticipated, and the community support was not as helpful as I'd hoped. It feels like I need to be an expert just to get started, which is a barrier for smaller teams or individuals. The learning curve is simply too steep for practical adoption without significant time investment.

Mar 18, 2026Powerful but Painfully Complex for Small Teams
While Kong offers impressive features for API management, the learning curve is brutal. Documentation feels scattered and outdated, leaving us spending more time troubleshooting than developing. For a small team like ours, the overhead of maintaining Kong's complexity outweighs the benefits it provides.
