Open source IRC client for Linux, Windows and macOS with graphical interface, multiple chat windows and scripting capabilities
KVIrc is a free, open source Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client first released in 1998 for Linux and other Unix-like operating systems. It was later ported to Windows and macOS as well.
KVIrc has an intuitive graphical user interface allowing multiple chat windows to be open at once. Common IRC features such as aliases, ignore lists, logging and automatic reconnection on disconnect are supported. There is also scripting capability through internal commands, aliases and trigger identifiers to automate various tasks.
Theming is a core component of KVIrc, with support for custom color schemes, fonts, backgrounds and interface layouts. Users can share theme files and scripts through the online KVIrc scripting portal. There is also a module system to extend functionality with addons like encryption, file transfers and media playback.
KVIrc continues to be actively developed by a community of contributors. Its latest release focused on high DPI support and integration of the Qt5 toolkit. Although not as full-featured as dedicated IRC bouncers like ZNC, KVIrc offers a highly customizable IRC client option for power users.
