What is Metro Exodus (Series)?

Metro Exodus is a first-person shooter video game series developed by 4A Games and published by Deep Silver. The series is based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels of the same name and is set in post-apocalyptic Russia following a devastating nuclear war.

The first game in the series, Metro 2033, was released in 2010 and follows Artyom, a young survivor living in the Moscow Metro system in the aftermath of the war. As Artyom, players must brave the horrors of the Metro while searching for a way to save his home station from the threats lurking within the tunnels.

The sequel, Metro: Last Light, was released in 2013 and continues Artyom's story as he works to prevent all-out war amongst the various factions struggling to survive in the Metro. The game refined many of the mechanics of the original while expanding the lore and backstory of the Metro universe.

The latest installment, Metro Exodus, was released in 2019 and shows Artyom finally making his way to the surface. He soon discovers that humans have mutated into horrifying monsters up there. As Artyom leads a band of Spartan Rangers, players must guide them on a year-long continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life beyond the confines of the Metro.

With its blend of stealth, survival horror, and first-person shooter gameplay along with its immersive atmosphere and storytelling, the Metro series has earned critical praise and a dedicated fan following. The games are known for their gripping narrative and worldbuilding that paints a grim yet engaging vision of life in post-nuclear Russia.
