They also begin seeing a mysterious figure they call 'The Shape' stalking them.
The teenagers soon discover that the adults in their town are involved in a sinister conspiracy and that they cannot be trusted. During their nightly blackouts when they are under the control of an unseen force, the teenagers are being used by the adults for some unknown purpose.
Gameplay in The Blackout Club focuses on stealth and cooperative multiplayer. A group of up to 4 players must work together as they explore the procedurally-generated neighborhoods and tunnels under Redacre, trying to gather clues about the conspiracy while avoiding detection by The Shape. Players use weapons like grappling hooks and tasers as well as traps and distractions to aid in their investigation.
As players progress, they earn experience to unlock new abilities and tools that assist in stealth and combat. Teamwork is necessary to complete objectives, solve environmental puzzles, and ultimately reveal the secrets behind the conspiracy controlling their town.
