Poptropica is an online virtual world and game designed for children developed by Pearson Education's Family Education Network. It was launched in September 2007. Poptropica allows players to travel to different islands, each with a unique theme and storyline, and take part in adventures and quests.
Players start by creating a customizable avatar character and are given a starter island to get familiar with the basic mechanics of movement, chat, quests, and mini-games. As they progress, more islands become available to travel to, each with their own stories and quests related to science, history, fantasy, and more.
