Powder Game: Physics Sandbox Web Games

A popular physics sandbox web game where players can experiment with fire, water, and explosives to simulate reactions.

What is Powder Game?

Powder Game is an interactive physics sandbox web game originally created in Japan by Dan-Ball in 2007. Players are presented with a blank canvas and toolbox to choose various elements like fire, water, stone, explosives, electricity and more that can be dropped onto a bed of powder and interact according to the laws of physics.

As elements interact with the powder and each other, complex chain reactions and simulations can occur. For example, dropping a fire element may cause an explosion, or placing metal in water can cause electricity to flow. The open-ended nature of Powder Game allows incredible emergent gameplay possibilities.

Over the years, Powder Game has developed a significant fanbase across the world, with users creating intricate machines, artwork, and physics experiments within the game. The simple mechanics layered over complex physics modeling creates opportunities for engaging creativity and discovery.
