What is Pubby.club?

Pubby.club is an open-source alternative to the popular Clubhouse app that offers similar live audio conversation functionality. Developed by a group of open source advocates, Pubby.club allows users to easily create audio chat rooms, invite others to join, and have real-time conversations.

As an open alternative to Clubhouse, Pubby.club does not require any invitations or exclusive access in order to use the platform. Any user can freely sign up, create a room around a topic they want to discuss, and start inviting others to join in. This makes it much more accessible and democratic compared to Clubhouse.

Pubby.club rooms allow users to take on moderator, speaker, or listener roles. Moderators can invite speakers, mute/unmute participants, and manage the room. Speakers can talk to the room while listeners can react and ask to be a speaker. Rooms can accommodate unlimited listeners and up to 10 simultaneous speakers.

By building Pubby.club on open-source tools, the platform is also fully transparent and privacy-focused. User data is not collected or sold to advertisers. The codebase is available for anyone to inspect, audit, or even host their own version of the platform.
