Open-source puzzle video game guiding a photon through increasingly complex quantum circuits, teaching quantum computing principles in an engaging manner
Quantum Game is an educational open-source puzzle video game designed to teach the principles of quantum computing. In the game, players take on the role of a quantum computer engineer and must solve puzzles by arranging qubits and quantum logic gates to guide a photon through increasingly complex quantum circuits.
The goal of each level is to get the photon from the input to the output by constructing a valid quantum circuit. As the player progresses through the levels, new quantum gates are introduced such as Hadamard, CNOT, and Toffoli gates. Players must figure out how to leverage quantum superposition, entanglement, and interference to solve each puzzle.
The game features colorful retro-style pixel art graphics and chiptune background music. With over 100 puzzles, Quantum Game trains players quantum computing concepts like superposition, decoherence, and quantum teleportation in an interactive way. The game can teach the basics to new users or be enjoyed by more advanced quantum programmers looking to test their skills.
As an open-source project, Quantum Game’s code is available on GitHub, allowing contributors to add new puzzles and translations to make the game more accessible globally. The goal of Quantum Game is both to entertain as well as educate people from all backgrounds about the amazing potential of quantum computers.
