Rocket Riot: 2D Arena Shooter Game

Find out more about Rocket Riot, a fast-paced video game where players battle in tiny arenas using rockets, power-ups, and destructible terrain.

What is Rocket Riot?

Rocket Riot is a 2D arena shooter video game developed by Codeglue and published in 2009 by THQ for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade service. The game features fast-paced cartoon-style graphics and gameplay.

Players compete against AI or human opponents in tiny battle arenas using an arsenal of varied rockets and collectible power-ups and weapons with different properties. The objective is to be the last player standing by eliminating the other players. Matches tend to be quick and chaotic.

A defining feature of Rocket Riot is its completely destructible terrain and environments. Nearly all objects and surfaces can be destroyed bit-by-bit through player weapons fire and explosions. This leads to constantly evolving stages during matches.

The single player campaign features the player battling their way through leagues to become the Rocket Riot champion. There is also 4-player local and 8-player online multiplayer matchups available. The downloadable versions for Xbox 360 and PC also included map, character and rocket editors for customizing content.

Rocket Riot received positive reviews with an aggregate score of 82/100 on Metacritic. Critics praised the fast-paced, addictive arena battles and destructible environments, while criticisms mostly focused on limited gameplay modes and some difficulty spikes.
