What is Sipdroid?
Sipdroid is a free open-source SIP client for the Android operating system that allows users to make VoIP and instant messaging communications over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Developed by The Sipdroid Open Source Project, it is based on the CSipSimple SIP stack and features HD audio codecs as well as TLS and SRTP security encryption.
With Sipdroid, Android users can register with SIP providers or third-party VoIP services to obtain a SIP account and phone number to place and receive low-cost calls to landlines and mobile devices worldwide. Calls between Sipdroid users are entirely free. In addition to basic voice calling, it supports video calls as well as instant messaging through extensions such as Google Talk and messaging to other SIP addresses.
