What is Skifta?

Skifta is a free, open-source UPnP/DLNA media server software that enables streaming of digital media content like videos, music, and photos from a personal computer or network-attached storage drive to consumer electronics devices like smart TVs, gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, and mobile devices on the home network.

It works by detecting DLNA/UPnP-compatible devices on the local network and allowing the user to select content from folders on their Windows PC or Mac to stream to those devices. Support extends to popular media formats like MP4, MKV, AVI, MP3, JPEG, etc.
