What is Star Wars: Battlefront?

Star Wars: Battlefront is a series of first- and third-person shooter video games based on the Star Wars films. The games allow players to participate in famous battles from the films from either a first-person or third-person view.

The original Star Wars: Battlefront was released in 2004 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. It featured battles from the prequel trilogy such as the Battle of Naboo and Battle of Geonosis. A sequel, Star Wars: Battlefront II, was released in 2005 and featured new playable heroes such as Yoda and heroes from the original trilogy.

In 2015, the series was rebooted with Star Wars Battlefront by EA DICE. This game focused on graphical quality and recreated locations from the original trilogy like Endor, Hoth, Tatooine, and Sullust. Iconic vehicles like X-wings, TIE fighters, and AT-AT walkers were player-controlled.

The latest installment is Star Wars Battlefront II from 2017, which included content from the prequel and sequel trilogy movies as well as new canon material. Locations like Starkiller Base and characters like Rey and Kylo Ren were added along with a single-player campaign.

The games emphasize immersing the player in the Star Wars universe with authentic visuals and sounds from the films. The large-scale battles with up to 40 players pit Rebels vs. Imperials as they fight to control strategic objectives on land and in the skies.
