Realistic 10-pin bowling video game developed by TOSE, released for Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, with features like frames across different alleys and leagues, aiming to get strikes and spares.
Strike Master Bowling is a realistic bowling video game developed by TOSE and published by Electro Brain for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. It simulates the experience of ten-pin bowling across different alleys, leagues, and tournaments.
In Strike Master Bowling, players attempt to knock down pins in frames across various bowling alleys. The controls allow the player to choose ball speed, ball spin, and where to aim the ball when bowling. The game physics and scoring follow official ten-pin bowling rules and regulations. There are both amateur and professional bowling alleys and tournaments to compete in, each with varying difficulty levels.
The goal is to get strikes by knocking down all ten pins with the first roll of the ball in each frame. Spares can also be picked up by knocking down all remaining pins in the second roll. Strikes, spares, and overall score are tracked through all ten frames just as in actual bowling matches. Different leagues and alleys in Strike Master Bowling have their own Feel, Oil Pattern, and Resurfacing characteristics which affect ball motion.
Strike Master Bowling features both single player and alternating 2 player modes. It garnered positive reviews for its realism relative to bowling games of the time period. Later releases added more customization around player characters. The game's success spawned several sequels on both Nintendo and Sega platforms.
