Some key features of Stringer include:

  • Support for standard RSS feeds as well as podcast RSS feeds
  • A responsive, clean interface
  • Keyword and category based feed organization
  • Saving articles for offline reading
  • Automatic feed updates and article storage
  • Media playback and download capabilities for podcasts
  • Cross-device syncing of read/unread status
  • Integration with services like YouTube, Twitter, etc. via RSS
  • Open source Ruby on Rails codebase that is customizable

As an open source project, Stringer is completely free with no advertising or tracking. It gives you full ownership and control over your feed data. Stringer requires running your own Linux server, which takes more effort to set up but pays off in privacy and customizability.
