What is Supernet?

Supernet is an ambitious open-source project that aims to connect multiple blockchain networks into one large decentralized network. It functions as a decentralized application platform that allows dApps built on top of it to operate across different blockchains seamlessly.

The key feature of Supernet is its ability to connect both Bitcoin-based blockchains and non-Bitcoin blockchains through a unified API. This enables easy interoperability between different blockchain ecosystems. For example, a decentralized exchange dApp built on Supernet could allow trading between Bitcoin-based assets and Ethereum-based assets.

Some of the key blockchain projects that are integrated into Supernet include Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum, BitShares and NXT. More blockchain networks are expected to be added in the future. The native cryptocurrency fueling the Supernet ecosystem is SUPERNET, which is used to pay fees and enable value transfers across integrated blockchains.

In the long run, Supernet aims to evolve into a decentralized Internet services backbone that brings different decentralized technologies like IPFS, Tor, I2P together. The project is still in active development with a growing community supporting it.
