What is Teleparty?
Teleparty (formerly Netflix Party) is a free Google Chrome extension that allows groups of people to watch Netflix videos together remotely. Here are some key things to know about Teleparty:
- It synchronizes the Netflix video playback so everyone in the group stays at the same part of the video.
- It has a group chat feature so you can chat with everyone in your Teleparty while watching.
- It works by having one person share their Teleparty link with the group. Then when anyone plays/pauses the video, it syncs up for everyone.
- It currently only works for watching Netflix videos - attempts have been made for other streaming sites but getting permission has been an issue.
- It's very popular for remote movie nights or watching Netflix with long-distance friends/family. It creates a shared viewing experience.
- The free extension is available to add on the Chrome Web Store. You need Google Chrome and a Netflix subscription to use.
