What is Tower of Goo?

Tower of Goo is an indie puzzle video game developed by Kyle Gabler and Kyle Gray. First released in 2008, Tower of Goo is based on Gabler's experimental game World of Goo. It consists of several chapters, each with a number of puzzles. The goal of each puzzle is to build a tower structure from various goo balls to reach a pipe exit.

There are different types of goo balls with unique properties the player can utilize. Basic balls simply form the tower structure. Fire, water and steam balls introduce various mechanics such as firing, dissolving, pressure sensitivity, and more. The player must cleverly use these goo balls to overcome gravity and other obstacles to reach the goal.

Tower of Goo has been praised for its physics engine, depth, and difficulty curve. Its unique visual style and ambient electronic soundtrack accentuate the gameplay. Tower of Goo has won numerous awards over the years including the Independent Games Festival award, iOS game of the year, and best indie game on multiple platforms.
