Mar 04, 2026Great for open source, but can be frustrating for private projects
Travis CI is incredibly convenient for open source projects on GitHubβthe integration is seamless and the free tier is a huge plus for the community. However, for private repositories, the pricing feels steep compared to competitors, and I've occasionally run into cryptic build failures that are tough to debug. The documentation is decent, but support responses can be slow when you're stuck.

Feb 27, 2026Essential for Open Source Projects
Travis CI has become an indispensable part of my open-source workflow. The GitHub integration is seamless, making building and testing my repositories incredibly straightforward. The free tier for public projects is a huge benefit, allowing me to maintain quality without added cost. Configuration via a simple .travis.yml file is clear and well-documented.

Jan 13, 2026A Seamless CI/CD Experience for Our Open Source Project
Travis CI has been a game-changer for our GitHub-hosted open source project. Setting up our build, test, and deployment pipeline was incredibly straightforward with the YAML configuration, and it integrates perfectly with GitHub. The fact that it's free for open-source work is a huge value, allowing us to automate our workflow without any infrastructure overhead. It just works reliably every time we push code.

Jan 10, 2026Frustratingly Unreliable and Slow - Will Be Switching
As a solo developer working on an open-source project, I've found Travis CI increasingly frustrating to use. Builds frequently get stuck in the queue for hours, and random failures that have nothing to do with my code waste a ton of debugging time. The documentation feels outdated, and when things go wrong, there's essentially no meaningful support since it's a free tier. What should be a time-saver has become a major bottleneck.
