What is Trustroots?

Trustroots is a hospitality exchange and community platform for travelers to connect with local people who want to meet up or offer their couch, spare room or garden for free, as a gift without expectations. The platform aims to build trust in the travel community and facilitate cultural exchanges between travelers and locals.

Unlike other hospitality networks like Couchsurfing or BeWelcome, Trustroots is free, non-profit, advertisement-free and run by volunteers. It does not charge membership fees or commissions and is funded solely by donations. The focus is on creating meaningful connections without money involved.

Some key features of Trustroots include user profiles and verification, vouching system for trust building, search and filter for hosts in a location, public trip pages, groups, events, photo galleries and blogging. There is also a mobile app available. Data privacy and security is also taken seriously.

As a grassroots hospitality platform built by and for the community, Trustroots hopes to facilitate more ethical travel, cultural exchanges and understanding between travelers, locals and hosts. With over 170,000 members in over 190 countries as of 2022, the community continues to grow.
