A free and open source Dynamic DNS client for Windows and Linux, supporting periodic IP address checks and updates at popular Dynamic DNS providers.
YDNS is a free, open source Dynamic DNS (DDNS) client for Windows and Linux operating systems. It provides the capability to maintain a consistent domain name pointing to a dynamic IP address that changes periodically.
It works by running as a background service/daemon and periodically checking the public IP address of the local network. If the IP address changes, YDNS automatically logs into the user's Dynamic DNS provider account and updates the DNS A record to map the domain to the new IP address.
This is useful for running servers, services, web sites or other resources from a home network with a residential internet connection, ensuring they can always be reached at a consistent domain name even when the public IP address provided by the ISP changes over time.
YDNS supports integration with many popular Dynamic DNS providers such as No-IP, DuckDNS, FreeDNS and others. Configuration options provide control over the update frequency, ability to run on system boot, and monitoring of IP address changes.
As an open source DDNS client, YDNS is available free of cost for Windows and Linux platforms. It provides a lightweight yet full-featured alternative to proprietary client software offered by some Dynamic DNS companies.
