What is Amazon VPC?
Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) is a cloud computing service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that allows users to launch AWS resources in a logically isolated virtual network. VPC enables users to have complete control over their virtual networking environment, including selection of IP address range, creation of subnets, and configuration of route tables and network gateways.
Some key benefits of Amazon VPC include:
- Advanced security - VPC provides security features like security groups and network access control lists to control inbound and outbound traffic to resources.
- Isolation - Resources can be launched in a virtual private cloud, isolated logically from other virtual networks in the AWS cloud.
- Flexibility - Users can create multiple virtual networks and configure network topology, IP address ranges, subnets etc. as per requirement.
- Scalability - VPC enables creating and configuring network components as per changing business needs.
- Compatibility - VPC allows creating hybrid cloud solutions and connecting on-premises data centers to cloud via VPN or AWS Direct Connect.
Use cases of Amazon VPC include launching private servers in the cloud, extending company network into the cloud, creating standardized network architecture, enabling multi-tier architectures with public and private subnets, and much more.
Google Cloud Platform, Exoscale, ServerHub, Google Cloud VPC, Clever Cloud, UpCloud, Tranquillity, VirMach, RamNode, Akamai, Bahnhof, IBM Cloudant, Kaleidoscope IoT, ArvanCloud are some alternatives to Amazon VPC.
