What is BetterPrivacy?

BetterPrivacy is a free and open source Firefox extension used to limit online tracking and improve privacy while browsing the internet. It works by automatically deleting tracking cookies, Flash cookies (also called LSOs), HTML5 local storage, DOM storage, Silverlight isolated storage, and other types of 'supercookies'.

These tracking technologies allow third parties like advertisers and data brokers to collect extensive information about a user's browsing history and behavior across multiple websites. BetterPrivacy aims to restrict this type of invasive tracking by periodically clearing these data points from the browser.

In particular, it targets persistentcookies that have long expiration times in the distant future. It contains configurable whitelists so users can choose to preserve cookies for sites they trust. BetterPrivacy runs on all platforms that support Firefox, including Windows, Mac, and Linux.
