What is Codidact?
Codidact is an open source question and answer platform started in 2019. It was created as an alternative to Stack Overflow by members of the Stack Overflow community who were concerned about some of Stack Overflow's moderation policies and lack of transparency.
Codidact's goal is to build an inclusive community focused on high-quality knowledge sharing. The platform is entirely community-moderated, with transparency and democratic processes guiding all decisions. There are no ads or corporate sponsors, allowing the community to focus solely on providing objective and factual information without outside influence.
A key feature of Codidact is the emphasis on citing sources and references for answers. This helps ensure information is backed up and allows users to verify accuracy themselves. The site incorporates ratings and reputation systems to highlight high-quality contributions and guide community moderation.
As an open source project, Codidact is built and managed by a team of volunteer developers and community members. It uses modern web technologies and incorporates suggestions from its user community. The platform is currently in beta testing as features are built out and the community grows.
