Crypton.sh: Open-Source Password Manager & Secrets Vault
Crypton.sh offers encrypted password storage, secure note-taking, and credential management for individuals and teams looking for a self-hosted solution.
What is Crypton.sh?
Crypton.sh is an open-source, self-hosted password manager and secrets vault developed by SpiderOak. It allows individuals and teams to store, organize, and share passwords, sensitive documents, API keys, access codes, and other confidential information securely.
As an on-premises solution, Crypton.sh gives users full control over their encrypted data. The vault is accessed through a web app interface protected by two-factor authentication. Data is encrypted client-side before being stored on the Crypton server. Not even server admins can access the decrypted content.
Crypton enables secure sharing of password vaults and folders. Admins can grant various permissions to teams and external collaborators. The software also includes features such as password generation, favorites, folders, tagging, search, version history, and more.
Being open source and self-hosted, Crypton.sh ensures no third parties have access to cleartext data. Organizations can deploy it on their own infrastructure to keep confidential information within their security perimeter. The backend uses Node.js and MongoDB to store encrypted records.
