What is Hitman GO?
Hitman GO is a turn-based strategy puzzle game developed and published by Square Enix Montreal in 2014. It is a spinoff of the popular Hitman video game series. The objective of the game is for the player to navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out targets on each level.
In Hitman GO, you control Agent 47, the protagonist of the Hitman series. Unlike other games in the franchise which feature 3D environments, Hitman GO has a simple, minimalistic art style with board game-style turn-based movement and actions. Levels are presented from an isometric angle and consist of interconnected lines and nodes. On each turn, you can move Agent 47 one node across the grid, setting up a path to avoid and distract enemies in order to eliminate your main target.
As you progress through the game, the levels become increasingly more complex, presenting additional obstacles like sentries, traps, locked nodes, and more targets to take down. You have a number of tools and abilities at your disposal, including distractions, disguises, hiding spots and snipers. The game encourages stealth, observation and strategy to proceed.
With its clean aesthetics yet challenging puzzles, Hitman GO provides a fresh take on the iconic Hitman formula. The game received positive reviews for its design and gameplay, winning several awards in 2014 including iOS Game of the Year from Apple.
