An open-source action RPG game with hand-drawn 2D animation and gameplay inspired by Super Nintendo RPG classics, available for players to control various characters on a quest to defeat monstrous enemies.
Indivisible is an action RPG video game developed by Lab Zero Games and published by 505 Games. First announced as a prototype in 2012, Indivisible spent over seven years in development before its full release on Windows, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in 2019.
Indivisible is presented through 2D animation with visuals inspired by a variety of different cultures and mythologies from around the world. The game follows Ajna, a good-natured tomboy with a rebellious streak, who sets out on a quest to discover the truth behind her mysterious powers. Along the way, she recruits a variety of unique heroes and faces off against corrupt villains who seek to abuse their own abilities.
Gameplay in Indivisible combines platforming mechanics with the turn-based combat and party management of a traditional RPG. Up to four characters can participate in battle, with Ajna able to attack foes directly while her allies provide assistance through abilities that align to common RPG roles like healing and tanking hits. Defeating foes grants experience points that allow characters to level up over the course of the game.
Indivisible received positive reviews upon its release, with critics praising its distinctive visual presentation, music, and hybrid gameplay. However, the game was also criticized for some technical issues as well as uneven difficulty spikes. Support from fans allowed Indivisible to receive a number of post-launch updates that addressed many of these criticisms.
