Apr 24, 2026It Gets The Job Done, With Some Annoyances
Keka is my default archiver for its excellent Finder integration and broad format support; dragging a file onto the menu bar icon is incredibly convenient. However, I find its interface a bit clunky and dated, and I've occasionally run into stability issues when processing a large batch of files. For a free, open-source tool, it's powerful, but it doesn't feel as polished as some paid alternatives.

Apr 23, 2026Simple, Powerful, and Essential for macOS
Keka has completely replaced the need for The Unarchiver or other paid tools for me. The Finder integration is seamlessβright-clicking on any archive is a breeze, and dropping files onto the app icon is just as easy. Being open-source and free, it's an incredible value that handles all the formats I need without any fuss.

Apr 23, 2026Handy but with quirks
Keka's free price and Finder integration are fantastic for quickly zipping files or unpacking common formats like RARs. However, the interface feels a bit dated and I've occasionally had it stall on very large archives, requiring a force quit. It does the job most of the time, but it's not the most polished experience.

Apr 17, 2026Frustratingly Buggy for Basic Tasks
For a supposedly simple archiver, Keka has been surprisingly unreliable. It frequently hangs when extracting large RAR files, and the Finder integration often fails to recognize supported files. While the price is right, the constant crashes make it frustrating to use for daily compression needs.

Apr 17, 2026Falls short of the basics
The integration into Finder and the drag-and-drop simplicity are great in theory, but Keka has become unreliable for me. It frequently fails to decompress common RAR archives from my colleagues, claiming they are corrupted when other tools open them fine. The menu bar icon also sporadically disappears, forcing a restart of the app to get basic functionality back.

Apr 14, 2026Overhyped and unreliable, went back to The Unarchiver
While Keka looks promising with its clean interface, I've had constant issues with corrupted archives when extracting multi-part RAR files. Twice it's crashed Finder during large compression jobs, losing my progress. For a tool whose main job is reliability, it's frustratingly inconsistent, and the lack of detailed error messages makes troubleshooting impossible.

Apr 13, 2026Essential and Effortless File Archiver
Keka has become an indispensable tool on my Mac. Its seamless integration with Finder and the ability to handle archives like 7Z, RAR, and ZIP with a simple drag and drop is fantastic. For a free app, it's incredibly powerful and reliable, solving all my compression needs without any fuss.

Apr 13, 2026Sleek but limited - fine for basics, but not for power users.
While Keka's interface is clean and it handles simple archives fine, it's missing advanced features I need. I ran into issues with some RAR files and found the update process to be clunky. It's fine for simple zip/unzip, but it's not the powerhouse it's sometimes made out to be.

Apr 07, 2026Limited and frustrating experience
While Keka is free, I've found it unreliable for basic tasks. It frequently fails to extract password-protected ZIP files that other programs handle without issue, and the lack of granular control over compression settings is frustrating. The Finder integration feels clunky compared to competitors, and I've had several instances where it simply crashed during large file operations.

Apr 02, 2026A solid free archiver, but with some quirks
Keka is my go-to for simple compression tasks on my Mac - it's free, fast, and the drag-and-drop interface is super convenient. However, I've had a few issues with corrupted ZIP files when decompressing archives from Windows users, which makes me nervous for important files. The Finder integration is great, but the app occasionally hangs on very large folders, forcing a restart. For a free, open-source tool, it's impressive, but I wouldn't rely on it for mission-critical archiving without testing compatibility first.
