What is Loanables?
Loanables is an open-source web application designed to facilitate lending and borrowing of household items, tools, books, and more within small communities. It enables a sharing economy at the local level where people can make use of items others are not currently using.
With Loanables, you can easily list items you own and are willing to lend out to others. The platform keeps track of who has what item on loan, sending reminders when items are due back. Those looking to borrow something can browse available items and request to borrow what they need. Loan owners can approve or deny requests.
Key features of Loanables include:
Ability for users to list items they want to lend out
Item listings show descriptions, photos, policies, and availability
Users can request to borrow items for specific dates
Loan owners can approve or deny borrowing requests
Notifications when items are coming due
Keeps history of all loans and borrowers
By facilitating peer-to-peer sharing, Loanables enables better utilization of resources, reduces unnecessary purchases, builds stronger communities through sharing, and promotes sustainability. The code base is open-source and available on GitHub to download, use, and extend for free.
