What is Museeks?
Museeks is an open-source, cross-platform music player application designed to provide a simple but capable listening experience for local music libraries. Developed with Electron, Museeks runs on Windows, MacOS, and Linux.
The Museeks interface focuses on minimalism and ease of use. The main view displays the user's music library, which can be browsed by artist, album, or song. Double clicking on a song begins playback immediately in the dedicated playback screen, which provides basic controls such as play/pause, previous/next track, volume, and progress bar.
Beyond simple playback, Museeks offers playlist creation and management, global and playlist-based shuffle, customizable keyboard shortcuts, and search. It can also fetch artist images and metadata from Last.fm. Configuration options allow tweaking certain visual elements to user preference.
As an open-source project, Museeks is completely free to use and distribute. It offers the simplicity and clean aesthetic of a "minimalist player" while still providing full-featured music management and listening without the complexities of more bloated players. Its intuitive interface makes Museeks easy to use while still offering personalization options for power users.
