Massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game for space exploration, facility building, ship construction, interplanetary warfare, and trade on your own planetary base
OGame is a free-to-play, browser-based, massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game developed by Gameforge AG. It's set in a science fiction universe where players start on their own planets and must build facilities, research technologies, gather resources, trade, form alliances, and produce combat fleets to battle other players for control of the galaxy.
When starting OGame, players choose one of several galaxies to play in and receive an uncolonized home planet. They must build facilities like mines, factories, warehouses, and laboratories to produce resources, ships, weapons, and technologies. They can colonize and exploit more planets, establish trade routes for resources and ships between their colonies, and explore distant star systems via probes and fleets.
A key aspect of OGame is forming strategic alliances with other players for trade, resource sharing, and defense pacts. Alliances allow for pooling of resources to produce massive attack and defense fleets to wage wars against enemy alliances. Players must carefully balance economic growth, research, fleet production, and resource management to succeed.
Combat in OGame takes place in real-time, but does not require the player to be online when attacks are launched. Fleets are dispatched with orders and return with a report once they reach their destination or are destroyed. Battles are calculated automatically by the game servers, factoring in technologies, numbers, and ship strengths.
OGame features several galaxies with distinct game worlds and rules like speed of gameplay. It relies on real-time collaboration and competition between thousands players to create its gameplay dynamics and sandbox environment.
