What is Entropia Universe?
Entropia Universe is a 3D virtual universe developed by MindArk originally released in 2003. It has a unique real cash economy in which players can deposit real-world funds that are converted into Entropia Dollars (PED) that have a fixed exchange rate with the U.S. Dollar.
Players explore planet Calypso which features a variety of environments including cities, jungle, deserts and more. They can mine for valuable resources, hunt creatures and other players for rewards, craft weapons and items, trade, and socialize. There is also an in-depth skill progression system across a variety of disciplines.
The game promotes a free market economy, with almost every item and service capable of being traded between players. Weapons, armor, vehicles, deeds to land and cities, mining machines, manufacturing machines, loot from hunting, and many more items are available for purchase with PED from other players who choose to sell them.
This means dedicated players can profit from their efforts in Entropia Universe by acquiring valuable items and resources or providing services. The game holds a Guinness World Record for the most expensive virtual item ever sold, a virtual space station that sold for $330,000 in real-world funds.
