What is Anarchy Online?
Anarchy Online is a science fiction massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) released in 2001 by Norwegian video game developer Funcom. It takes place in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic setting on the planet Rubi-Ka, which has been mined almost to destruction. Players control a character known as an avatar and explore Rubi-Ka while completing quests and improving their character's skills.
Gameplay consists of typical MMORPG features like completing quests, defeating enemies, acquiring gear and currency, and interacting with other players. The game has 22 different professions such as Solider, Doctor and Trader to choose from, each with their own unique skills and abilities. Players can battle human enemies of varying difficulty as well as alien creatures across different landscapes like deserts, jungles and cities.
Since its initial release, Anarchy Online has been periodically updated with graphics overhauls, new story content, gameplay changes and quality-of-life improvements. It utilizes a free-to-play model, allowing access to the full game without an initial purchase. Optional monthly subscriptions offer various bonuses and convenience features.
