What is Sacred (Series)?
Sacred is an action role-playing video game series developed by Ascaron Entertainment and published by various companies over the years. The first game, simply titled Sacred, was released in 2004 for Windows. It featured a large open fantasy world for players to explore and quest through.
The story focused on the player character working to defeat evil forces and characters threatening the land of Ancaria. Gameplay involved real-time combat, leveling up skills and attributes, obtaining loot through quests and battles, and exploring dungeons. The game was praised for its beautiful graphics and immersive world.
Two expansion packs were released for the original Sacred in 2004 and 2005, adding new content to the game. Sacred 2 was released in 2008 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It expanded the world and added features like mounted combat. The last release in the series was Sacred 3 in 2014, published by Deep Silver. The Sacred games have retained a loyal fanbase over the years despite the series being dormant recently.
