Vibrant anime-style graphics, aerial combat on flyboards, pets that fight alongside you, guild wars, quests, dungeons, and player vs player duels in a large open world for social interaction.
FlyFF (Fly For Fun) is a free-to-play fantasy MMORPG developed by Gala Lab Corp and originally released in 2005. It features bright, anime-inspired graphics, a large persistent world, and arcade-style action combat. One of FlyFF's most unique features is the ability for players to take flight on magical flyboards and engage in aerial combat.
After choosing one of four basic character classes (Mercenary, Acrobat, Magician, Assist), players can advance into one of two job classes at level 60, drastically changing their abilities. Teamwork is encouraged through party-based leveling, guild wars, and end-game raids. PvP combat is also popular in arenas and the Chaos City zone.
At release, FlyFF garnered praise for its simple but fluid combat and flight controls and charming visual style. However, more recent reviews cite a lack of significant new content as a drawback. The game also utilizes an aggressive free-to-play model with microtransactions required to fully experience some content.
Since launch, FlyFF has maintained a small but dedicated fanbase. It continues to receive regular updates, balancing tweaks, new fashion gear, and limited-time events. Major publisher Webzen acquired Gala Lab Corp in 2019. Servers remain online in North America, South Korea, Europe, and beyond.
