What is The Mana World?
The Mana World is a free, open source 2D multiplayer online RPG inspired by the SNES game Secret of Mana. It features retro pixel art graphics, gameplay focused on action-oriented combat, questing, and adventuring with other players.
As an MMORPG, The Mana World allows players to create a character and adventure with others in a persistent online world. Much of the gameplay revolves around combat using a real-time hack-and-slash battle system. Players can customize their character by choosing from different classes and leveling up. There is also a wide selection of armor and weapons to find.
Questing is a big part of advancement and allows you to travel to new areas or dungeons and fight enemies alone or in groups. Defeating monsters and completing quests rewards you with experience points, gold, and items. There is also a player-driven economy where you can sell items to other players.
The Mana World features brightly colored retro pixel art. The graphics and gameplay capture the essence of 16-bit era action RPGs. The game world has a variety of environments to explore, from forests and mountains to deserts and beaches.
