What is OoCities?

OoCities is a free website building and hosting platform designed to allow anyone to create and publish their own personal website online. With OoCities, users can sign up for a free subscriber account which provides a customizable site builder, web hosting, limited storage and bandwidth, and OoCities subdomain addressing.

The key draw of OoCities is its easy-to-use drag and drop website builder. The builder features a wide variety of professionally designed templates across categories like portfolios, blogs, online stores, and more. Users can select a template they like and fully customize it by dragging, dropping, and arranging text, images, widgets, and other elements on the page with no technical skills required. A WYSIWYG editor allows for on-page editing in a simplified visual interface.

For more advanced customizations, OoCities also provides HTML access. Users can work directly with the site's underlying code to tweak templates at a granular level or even build pages completely from scratch for complete creative freedom over the look, layout, design, and functionality delivered to site visitors. Custom CSS stylesheets can also be uploaded for deep style customizations.

While subscriber accounts do come with cloud hosting and global CDN access to ensure sites are fast and online around the world, storage and bandwidth caps are put in place. Subscribers are limited to 500MB of storage and 2GB of bandwidth per month, which is ample for most personal use cases but can constrain high-traffic sites. Paid premium accounts are available which increase those limits for users with greater hosting needs.

By default, all sites are hosted on subdomains of oocities.com. This branding cannot be removed on free accounts. Upgrading to premium provides access to custom domains to allow connecting sites to domains purchased and branded specifically to the site owner rather than OoCities.
