Project Zomboid is an indie survival horror video game. Players attempt to survive as long as possible in a post-apocalyptic, zombie-infested world. Gameplay involves scavenging items, crafting weapons, finding safe houses, tending to injuries, and avoiding the undead.

What is Project Zomboid?

Project Zomboid is an isometric zombie survival game developed by The Indie Stone. It was first released in 2013 as an early access game on Steam and has since developed a dedicated fanbase.

In Project Zomboid, players take control of a survivor in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. The main objective is to stay alive for as long as possible by managing hunger, thirst, illness, injuries, and mental health while also dealing with zombies either through combat, diversion, or stealth.

Players can freely explore the open world of Knox County, scavenging items from abandoned buildings. Food, weapons, medicine, and other supplies are necessary for survival. Bases can be barricaded to stay safe at night. As time goes on, electricity, water, and other services begin to fail, increasing the survival challenge.

The most unique aspect of Project Zomboid is the intricate simulation of the human body and health system along with complex Zombie AI. This creates tense and dynamic gameplay where a single bite or deep cut can become lethal if not properly treated.

Since its initial release, Project Zomboid has gone through many updates that have added new map areas, weapons, vehicles, multiplayer functionality, traits system and more while staying true to its survival-horror roots.
