What is Sharp11?
Sharp11 is an open-source and cross-platform music notation program for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Developed as an alternative to expensive proprietary notation software like Finale and Sibelius, Sharp11 provides an easy-to-use interface for music notation and scorewriting.
With Sharp11, users can create new musical scores by entering notes with the mouse, computer keyboard, or MIDI keyboard. It supports the input of notes, rests, dynamics, articulations, slurs, ties, tuplets, and more. The graphical interface automatically adjusts the score spacing, layout, engraving, and playback based on music notation rules. Users can also import MusicXML files or scan printed sheet music.
Once a score is complete, Sharp11 provides parts extraction, audio mixdown, and exports to PDF, MusicXML, MIDI, and more. The built-in audio engine can playback scores via MIDI or through virtual instruments like soundfonts and VSTs. Sharp11 also offers transcription and arrangement tools to assist with composition.
