What is StartX?
startX is an online platform and nonprofit startup accelerator based at Stanford University. It was founded in 2010 with the goal of helping Stanford-affiliated entrepreneurs build successful technology companies.
startX provides a range of services and resources for early-stage startups, including:
- Educational workshops and events focused on product development, fundraising, marketing, and other startup skills
- Access to experienced startup mentors and advisors
- Co-working space in the Stanford-StartX Facility
- Funding opportunities like the startX Fund, which invests in startX companies via a rolling fund model
The startX accelerator program is highly competitive, accepting only 5-7% of applicant startups each year. Teams participate in the 3-4 month long program on the Stanford campus, with the goal of rapidly advancing their ventures towards Series A funding.
So far, startX has supported over 500 startups, which have collectively raised over $3 billion in funding. Some notable startX alumni companies include Zapier, WayUp, and Instawork.
