First-person shooter multiplayer video game with advanced movement mechanics and Titan piloting, published by Electronic Arts.
Titanfall is a first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published in 2014 by Electronic Arts for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Windows PCs. Set in the distant future, the game takes place on various planetary colonies that are caught up in a bitter war between the military-style Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) and the militia group, Frontier Militia. Players take on the role of pilots, soldiers who can command agile miniature mech robots called Titans.
The game features a highly maneuverable pilot combat system that allows players to wall-run, double jump, and chain together parkour moves to get an advantage in battle. As pilots, players also have the ability to call and pilot several-story tall Titans, mech-style walkers bristling with firepower. Titanfall's multiplayer matches pit teams of players against each other in 6v6 battles where the goal is to defeat the enemy players and AI-controlled units.
Titanfall garnered much critical praise on its initial release for its innovative and smooth FPS gameplay. It was an Xbox exclusive title and considered one of the premier system-selling games for the new Xbox One console. The game was expanded with the Titanfall 2 sequel released in 2016 across Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Windows PCs, featuring an acclaimed single-player campaign in addition to multiplayer.
