VK9 (Series)

A multi-platform, open source software synthesizer and audio workstation with virtual analog modeling, FM synthesis, sample playback, effects processing and more in an intuitive workflow.

What is VK9 (Series)?

VK9 (Series) is a powerful, multi-platform software synthesizer and digital audio workstation developed and published by Blamsoft. First released in 2021, VK9 aims to provide an accessible yet deep tool for music production, sound design, and live performance.

At its core, VK9 features high-quality virtual analog, FM, wavetable, and sample playback synthesis engines for generating sounds. It comes equipped with over 2GB of onboard factory sounds and virtual instruments spanning acoustic/electric instruments, synths, drums, and more. Users can sculpt sounds with versatile filters, effects, modulators, and full ADSR envelopes per layer.

As a sequencer and audio host, VK9 enables arranging compositions on an infinite timeline with MIDI and audio tracks. It offers clip-based launching for live jamming or structured song layouts using its pattern and song modes. Microtiming, automation, modulation, quality effects, and audio warping bolster the workflow and capabilities.

VK9 runs natively on Windows, Mac, Linux and iOS/iPadOS devices. It supports plugin extensions including VSTs, AU plugins, and iOS modules for further sound design flexibility. The software facilitates exporting full songs, loops, samples or stems to common audio formats for use in other DAWs.

With its combined synthesis tools, sequencing environment, and multi-platform support, VK9 aims to be an accessible playground for music creators looking for a capable virtual studio and instrument rack.
